Leaves of Islamabad police cancelled ahead of JUI-F’s Azadi March

ISLAMABAD: The leaves of all police officials in the Islamabad division have been cancelled ahead of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl’s (JUI-F) ‘Azadi March’ in the capital on October 31.

The JUI-F chief on Wednesday said the participants of his Azadi March will converge on Islamabad on October 31.

“No police officer/official of ICT Police shall be granted any kind of leave till further orders except in the case of extreme emergency. However, the emergency leave of G.Os of all divisions will only be granted through the office of AIG/Establishment, Islamabad and after the approval of the IGP, Islamabad,” the notification said.

Speaking to the media, Fazl said that although the march will start on October 27, it will take three to four days for workers from far-off areas to arrive in the federal capital.

The participants of Azadi March from across the country will gather near Tarnol before entering Islamabad on October 31, Fazl had said.

Explaining the reason behind his decision to begin the march on October 27, he had said it was because his party wanted to express solidarity with people of occupied Kashmir.

Earlier, JUI-F had sought permission to hold Azai March at D-Chowk Islamabad on October 27.

According to a letter written to Chief Commissioner Islamabad, JUI-F will be holding the march on October 27 while exercising its democratic and constitutional right under Article 16 and 17 against the government.(Additional Input From INP)
