LEISURE TIME

BY MAHIKAN MAQBOOL

“Guard well your spare moments” narrated throughout the course of history for life in defense of all those treasured times one longs to relive when it is too late. This simple word exceeds the limit of understanding we have towards our lives and tends to give us an explanation of what wrongs we have been carrying onto for almost decades. Together,  time and human, both play an immense game that later results to be a waste for most of them.

Wasted or Leisure time often has the capability to prove its importance, and later aching for its existence to come once again. Academic and professional life respond in having a messed-up couple of years that teache one to never have wasted time in the first place.

However, this very treasure is the core of building up to anything a person has been thinking that is not worth the time. The vague idea of being everything the same for everyone is nothing, but a mere mentality cherished by many people today. This false hope that has been carried by almost everyone has destroyed countless lives, broken hundreds of dreams, killed tons of passions, and pushed away many future plans. This is because time is so lightly taken that it turns out to be so late when it is finally time. Spare time ticks fast and to have its grip, one must understand how to use it.

We as humans are born to be different from one another and possess different mentality for certain things we seem to do. Perhaps, we live in a world where carrying on to trends, and wasting time glows with the flow of being better than anything that comes in competition. Leisure time grabs a person and carries moments for the one who loves solitude and wants to do things his way and for those who want mental peace. This helps in making plans, creating ideas, assuring about career goals, and targeting a certain plan or objective that could be a lifelong dream.

Let’s assume, with the flow of my career I force myself to acknowledge anyone who dwells the exact characteristics, hobbies, passions, and dreams as me. This will not only create a grudge in my mental state against all the others but also will deprive me of my social behavior. Whereas, if in the time of lonesome I make things clear and work on my ideas of doing things better. It will most certainly result in things going my way.

We must believe life is compassionate for those who seem to accept the change and understand that time isn’t a waste for everyone. It is not pinning and needles for everyone, neither is it always spring. We must accept the limited time, we have to assure ourselves and our goals and to treasure, the leisure time must be a norm for any working person in existence.

Perhaps, perishing with the flow of time has never been mankind’s way of doing things. They circulate until they have their right time for working on their desires, ignoring the fact that time waits for none and nor does life. This makes it crystal clear that leisure time is the only jewel man needs to work on until his very days. Academic and professional life may come at a certain time, but the specific time wasted on doing something that just randomly flew with the flow results in chaos that turns the mind into a war with sanity. This proves that time taken clearly would surely result in favor and time taken for granted will result in regrets.

However, to know when the leisure time has arrived is to know what your punctuality is set upon. People, holding onto it with a grip are always the ones leading the crew and those enjoying the moments and letting them go are in chaos with the regret surrounded by several mental issues. Worrying about not losing time is when one loses it for good, and knowing when the specific moment is when one grows for it. Because at the end of the day, waste is a waste and there is nothing one can do to undo it for his own mere purposes of retreating. (Edited by Mamoona Shakoor)
