A beautiful girl was blessed with a euphonious voice. She decided to try her luck as a singer. She shared her desire with her parents but has had to hear a big “No”. Later on, when she grew up and wanted to become an anchor, again, the reply was a disappointment for her.
Gradually, she made herself understand that she couldn’t do anything which she wanted to and with a shattered heart, she did whatever she was told to do.
“What will people say?” might have been the possible question that compelled her parents to think that way. This is not just a simple question but which has ruined lives, broken dreams and changed aims of ambitious people.
On one hand, there are people who don’t bother about other’s opinion and do whatever they want but on the other hand, there are people who think about this question before taking any major decision in their life.
Why is it so? Why we can’t stay out of others’ matter? What makes us interfere in others’ lives? Why we think about society before going for our dreams? Why do we think about such people and step back from doing something which we wish to?
The society we live in never misses any chance to make someone feel depressed on different occasions. It is generally presumed that crying of a male means that he is weak. Although a male is also a human and he too has emotions. We suppress their feelings by saying, “Be a man!” and “Men don’t cry”.
A girl who aims to become a model is supposed to be from a family having not good background because, according to the dominant perception, girls of a good family do not enter showbiz. Although being a model doesn’t mean that a girl is exposing herself to camera.
It’s the way we see her that makes her a miserable creature. If a person secures low grades then, according to the people, they are not good at studies and will not have a bright future, neglecting the fact that future doesn’t have anything to do with grades. Why can’t we think in a positive way that everyone is good at one or the other thing and that no one is capable of doing everything.
In some families, a girl born with a melodious voice is not allowed to be a singer. People laugh on a boy who enjoys doing house chores just with the intention of helping his mother.
A mother has to face immense criticism for giving birth to a baby girl. The dreams are broken, aims are sacrificed, a mother is afraid what if she would give birth to a girl this time again, parents force their daughters to get married before reaching a certain age just because of the pressure of the society we live in.
Life is a one-time chance; so live it your way. Don’t be afraid of what people say because we cannot make everyone happy at the same time but at least can be happiest and can live our life to the fullest by fulfilling our dreams. So, we should do what makes our soul shine and it should be within the limits set by our God rather than the people around us who do nothing but make us feel low.
