Member of car lifter gang arrested, three vehicles recovered in Capital

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) of Islamabad police Thursday arrested a member of vehicles lifter gang and recovered three vehicles worth millions of rupees from him, a police spokesman said.

The police team recovered 03 stolen vehicles worth millions of rupees from him while efforts are underway to arrest his other accomplices.

Following the directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, DIG (Operations) Waqar Ud din Syed assigned the task to SP (Investigation) Dr Syed Mustafa Tanveer to accelerate efforts against car-lifters.

Following his directions, special team was constituted under supervision of In-charge ACLC Sub- Inspector Liaqat Ali along with police team. This team achieved a success and apprehended one car lifter of an inter-provincial gang.

The gangster has been identified as Akash Ahmed s/o Ishatiq Ahmed resident of District Abbottabad.

The police team recovered 03 stolen vehicles worth millions of rupees from him while efforts are underway to arrest his other accomplices. During the preliminary investigation, he confessed to take away the vehicles from various areas of Islamabad and Punjab.

 The recovered vehicles bear the registration numbers as follows:

Suzuki Mehran (LXV-8474), Suzuki Mehran (LED- 3052) and Corolla Grandy (LEH-16)

DIG (Operations) Waqar Uddin Syed appreciated the performance of police and directed the officials to intensify efforts to curb car lifting incidents. He has also announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for the members of ACLC police team.
