Met Office warns of closure of roads in upper parts

ISLAMABAD: Met Office on Tuesday issued a warning regarding the closure of the roads in upper parts of the country due to heavy snowfall and rains.

Metrological department issued the warning of risk of closure of inter cities connecting roads due to heavy snowfall and rains in the districts of Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Murree, Galyat, Neelum, Bagh, Haveli, Rawalakot, Astore, Hunza and Skardu.\

Met Office has also warned that heavy rains may trigger landslides and Avalanches in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Malakand and Hazara districts.

Meanwhile, hectic efforts are underway to restore traffic on Karakorum Highway between Gilgit and Rawalpindi.

Frontier Works Organization has cleared road at four points removing debris in Patton, Matta Banda, Chatial and Tatta Pani.

Meanwhile, Gilgit-Ghizer road has been reopened for light traffic.
