ISLAMABAD: Mian Raza Rabbani, former Chairman Senate, has said that irresponsible statement of the Federal Government on the alleged false and irregular licenses of pilots has resulted in grave consequences for the national flag carrier, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
The operations of PIA are being suspended in Europe and UK, Rabbani said in a statement on Wednesday.
This will result in almost virtual shout down of the national airline, Rabbani a senior leader of Pakistan Peoples Party said.
He called for a judicial inquiry into the motives and intent of such a statement by minister for aviation. It seems that grounds and reasons are being prepared to privatize PIA at a tuppence to the cronies of the government, he added.
As reported, a “ secret, most urgent” notice dated 19th June,2020, has been circulated by the Cabinet Division for a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Privatization on 1st July,2020, with Roosevelt Hotel, New York on the agenda.
The result of privatization is before the people; KESC when made K electric, has it helped the people in terms of better service? senator Rabbani asked.
He said that PTCL was privatized an till today huge amounts are outstanding against Etasalat. Both the privatization took place when the incumbent advisor finance was in office in the previous governments’, he added.
“This government has become a slave to various cartels and mafias”, Rabbani added.
