Millers announce to shut mills for three-days

LAHORE: Punjab Food Minister Sami Ullah Chaudhary has said that Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA) has fulfilled its duty of providing service to the people of Punjab by announcing not to increase the price of flour while upholding the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar.

These views were expressed by him while addressing a joint press conference with representatives of PFMA at DGPR Office here on Wednesday.

Chairman PFMA Asif Raza and President Habib-ur-Rehman Laghari as well as other representatives were also present on the occasion.

Sami Ullah Chaduhry said that the government has not allowed to increase the rates of flour and in this regard Punjab government has also played a significant role.

Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar and his team in collaboration with federal government settled all the matters and also removed all ambiguities, he added.

He further said that government of Pakistan is clear in its view point that no sales tax has been imposed on flour, fine, souji and choker. Government has also not increased the prices of flour, bread and naan.

The Provincial Minister further said that law will itself come into its action against those who increased the prices of bread, naan and other commodities of daily usage. T

hose making increase in their prices on their own should themselves take back unnecessary enhancement in prices otherwise government will force them to abide by the law under its clear policy, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman PFMA Asim Raza said that Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar by playing a commendable role has also removed the ambiguity regarding imposition of sales tax on flour, fine, souji and choker and clarification has also been issued in this regard.

It has also been given assurance to abolish imposition of tax on choker since 2015.(INP)
