Minister confirms Imran Khan underwent medical check-up at PIMS

ISLAMABAD: The government on Thursday confirmed that former incarcerated prime minister Imran Khan underwent a medical check-up at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) last week.

While clarifying reports regarding Imran Khan’s health, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar said that eye specialists had examined the former premier at Adiala Jail prior to his check-up at PIMS.

The eye specialists, according to the minister, conducted a 20-minute examination at PIMS before Khan was returned to Adiala Jail.

He assured the public that the PTI founder is in good health and reiterated that all prisoners have access to medical facilities.

“Whenever a doctor refers a prisoner for treatment, we ensure they are sent to the hospital,” Tarar said.

The Dawn reported that early, Imran’s sister Noreen Niazi had raised concerns about why the PTI founder’s family and lawyers were not being kept informed if the reports of his medical treatment were true. she also asked that his reports be made publicly.

“I am a sister, and today my question is directed towards the corridors of power,” Niazi said on X this morning.

“According to multiple journalists and media sources, our brother, Imran Khan, was taken under the cover of the night to the Pims hospital on the pretext of eye treatment. He was kept there for three hours, and then transferred back to Adiala jail in an atmosphere of extreme mystery and terrifying silence,” she said.
