LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs (HR&MA) Ijaz Alam Augustine has directed the authorities concerned to complete all the necessary precautionary measures in Atari to deal with possible flood situation after release of water in River Sutlej by India.
Speaking during his visit to River Sutlej to inspect pre-flood arrangements at point of Atari on Thursday, Ijaz Alam directed that evacuation of the population should be ensured from the river-bed and the people should be timely relocated to safer places before the flood torrent.
On the occasion, the Provincial Minister was briefed about the situation arising due to release of water in Satluj River by India, steps to be taken for evacuation of people and relief and rescue activities.
He said that the availability of all the necessary items should be ensured in relief camps and there should not be dearth of anything.
Ijaz Alam said that necessary arrangements should be completed from every respect to ensure the protection of life and property of the people and to deal with any possible flood threat. (INP)
