Amr ibn Hashham was Abu Al Hikum, the father of intellect . He was considered to be a very learned person.
He remained head of the jury which used to select the best Qaseeda every year, at the time of yearly gathering at Macca, to be hung on Kaaba for whole next year.
It used to be a masterpiece of poetry and required real intellectual knowledge of Arabic language. Therefore, it was a big honor for the members of jury to adjudicate the best of the best.
Same person is known as Abu Jahal, the father of barbarous!.
He knowingly denied the Prophet of Allah, Hazrat Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him). Let it be known that every illiterate (without formal studies) is not insensible. Experience shows that many people who have not been to any school or do not know how to read or right, but are extremely gifted and knowledgeable.
Soon after the occurrence of Miraj, this Abu Jahal came across Hazrat Abu Bakr and taunted him regarding the assent of Prophet (Peace be Upon Him) to the skies and meeting the Almighty Allah and questioned the veracity of the incident .
Hazrat Abu Bakr replied, “if it has been said by Mohammad Rasul Allah, Sallal laho alaihai wa aalaiyhi wassallam, then aamanna wa sadaqna”.
From that day then onwards, Abu Bakr came to be known as Siddique, and will remain so till end of times.
There is a Hadees, Ana’s, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that: “Three men came to the houses of the wives of the Prophet (Peace be Upon Him) and asked how his worship was.
When they were informed, they considered their own worship to be insignificant and said: ‘Where are we in comparison to the Prophet (Peace be Upon Him) when Allah has forgiven his past and future sins?’
One of them said: ‘As for me, I shall offer prayer all night long.’
Another said: ‘I shall observe fasting perpetually, never to break it.’
Another said: ‘I shall abstain from women and will never marry.’
The Prophet (Peace be Upon Him) then came to them and said: “Are you the people who said such things? I swear By Allah that I fear Allah more than you do, and I am most obedient and dutiful among you to Him, but still, I observe fasting (sometimes) and break it (at others); I perform (optional) prayer (at night sometimes) and sleep at night (at others); I also marry. So whoever turns away from my Sunnah (i.e., my way) is not from me.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
Likes of Mufti Muneeb, Taqi Usmani, etc, etc, etc, have defied the orders of the government.
Their insistence of carrying the rituals of Taraweeh and opening the mosques, at this dire times, when the COVID 19 pandemic is spreading fast in Pakistan, is total defiance of the orders not only of the government but also the teachings of the Holy Prophet (Peace be Upon Him).
Will these people take the responsibility of the deaths that would occur due to pandemic? Where do they stand on their outright denial of the Devine orders?
Government has shown weakness in handling the situation. History is replete with examples that mullahs never understand the language of appeasement. They must be taken to task with an iron hand. They need to be treated in the manner Khadum Hussain Rizvi was tackled.
The daily report on new cases of patients and increase in death rate due to COVID 19 is getting alarming. Any relaxation in rules will have serious consequences. No laxity is envisaged at this juncture. Do or die situation is approaching fast.
