NADRA Official Among 2 Held Over Sensitive Data Leak

ISLAMABAD: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested two individuals, including a National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) official, in connection with the leakage and sale of sensitive data.

According to NCCIA Hyderabad, a junior executive at NADRA, identified as Abdul Hakeem, has been providing classified information from NADRA database. His accomplice, Mohsin Iqbal, allegedly supplied the national identity card numbers of individuals whose data was then accessed.

Investigators have also traced suspicious WhatsApp accounts linked to both Abdul Hakeem and Mohsin Iqbal through their mobile phones.

The suspects have reportedly been involved in the illegal trade of sensitive data for a considerable period. The data was sold online in exchange for money.

Sensitive information of citizens from various cities was being unlawfully distributed, authorities stated.

Further investigation is underway following the arrest and a formal case has been registered against both individuals.
