The project’s objective is to secure significant global climate mitigation and environmental benefits by instituting efficient lighting policies, which would be done by creating a framework for defining Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) that would promote the import or assembly of higher efficiency products and innovative financial mechanisms that promote innovative and high efficiency products.

A workshop in this regard was held in Islamabad in which International and National experts had technical consultative dialogue with the LED manufacturers and importers, officials from EDB, FBR, EPA, MoCC, WB, NEECA, ECF, QAU, REAP, ASHRAE, MCI, CDA, banks, and many other sectors.

Aspects of waste management and light safety were discussed in detail by the international LED experts from France and Spain.

Manager Technical-NEECA informed that they want to boost exports through regional harmonization and encouraged the manufacturers and importers to register themselves for boosting exports after compliance with MEPS. Every one supported the idea.

A specific session was also held on ‘Understanding Green Financing and Gender Mainstreaming’ in which female representatives from different walks of life participated. Majority of them were from banks. Everyone appreciated the steps being taken by NEECA together with its provincial designated agencies.
