No one will be allowed to steal Larkana by-polls: PPP

LARKANA: Pakistan Peoples Party’s candidate for the Larkana by-elections, Jamil Soomro has said that he will not let anybody steal this election and despite hurdles by the Rangers and army in election process, the people will speak through their votes.

Talking to media here on Thursday after the polling was completed, Jamil Soomro said that the election process was slowed down by uncalled for interference by Rangers and army troops deployed inside the polling station. Rangers and army troops had no right to check the ID cards of the voters and slowing down the process. It was ironic that even policemen were thrown out of polling stations and only Rangers and army troops remained inside the polling stations.

He said that the polling in women polling stations was delayed for one hour and thirty minutes and again between 1pm to 3pm. During those times, the casting of votes was slowed down just to benefit the other candidate.

The PPP candidate said that the Rangers stopped him and asked him to get out of the vehicle and told him not to travel with five vehicles because it amounts to be a rally. He said that a bearded Rangers’ personnel misbehaved with him and also with the workers at his election camp. The same official asked workers not to raise the slogan of Jiye Bhutto.

Jamil Soomro said that his women polling agents were also made to leave the polling stations, saying that they were illiterate. When an illiterate can contest elections, then why an illiterate can’t be assigned by the candidate to be his/her polling agent, he asked. He said that army personnel should have not interfered in the Larkana elections, he vowed not to let anybody steal his election. (With additional input from INP)
