The federal government on Sunday dismissed the reports suggesting that the military or federal government had directed residents to evacuate Tirah Valley, saying no such orders had been issued and the claims are baseless and misleadling.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the certain quarters were deliberately spreading claims that the armed forces had instructed residents to vacate Tirah Valley to create fear and panic among the public, spread disinformation against security institutions and serve personal or political interests.
The statement stated that all such claims are false, malicious and driven by a specific agenda. The federal government and the armed forces have categorically clarified that no orders have been issued to evacuate Tirah Valley.
It added that security agencies routinely conduct operations against terrorist elements on the basis of intelligence information and ensure that the lives and daily routines of civilians are not disrupted during such actions.
The government maintained that there is neither any requirement nor any ongoing process of forced displacement or population relocation in connection with these operations.
According to the government, local residents themselves have expressed concern over the presence of militant elements in the area and desire peace and stability in the Tirah Valley.
In this context, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Department issued a notification on December 26, 2025, allocating a specified amount for advance preparedness and relief measures in the event of any possible, temporary and voluntary movement from certain areas.
The measures outlined in the notification include arrangements for transportation, food supply, cash assistance, and the establishment of temporary accommodation and registration centres.
The document further clarifies that, according to the Deputy Commissioner of Khyber, any potential voluntary movement reflects the views and wishes of the local population as expressed through representative jirgas.
It also notes that weather conditions, administrative capacity and other local factors were taken into account, and that such movement could take place without the establishment of camps.
The government said that any statement by the provincial government or its officials linking this voluntary process to the armed forces is entirely false, fabricated and made in bad faith.
