Number of COVID-19 cases in Pakistan reaches to 14,885; death toll jumps to 327

ISLAMABAD: Number of coronavirus pandemic cases has reached tp 14,885 around Pakistan after fresh infections were confirmed by the health authorities. The death toll out of COVID-19 jumped to 327 country-wide while 3,425 persons suffering due to deadly virus have been recovered so far.

According to figure given by Coronavirus Dashboard in its province-wise break up at 9:15am on April 29, Wednesday total 14,885 was total number of confirmed infections with 5,827 patients have been tested positive for the epidemic in Punjab, 5,291 in Sindh, 2,160 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 915 in Balochistan, 330 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 297 in Islamabad Capital Territory and 65 in Azad Jammu Kashmir.

Figure given by Coronavirus Dashboard in its province-wise break up at at 9:15am on April 29, Wednesday total deaths were reported in the country were 327 and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa became first province crosses the 100 mark with 114 fatalities. Punjab followed the path of Khyber Pakhtunjhwa to attain 100 mark with 100 fatalities. Aming other provinces Sindh stands with 92, Balochistan 14, Gilgit-Baltistan 3, Islamabad Capital Territory 7.

Meanwhile, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is dispatching the fourth consignment of personal protection equipment (PPE) for doctors and health workers of Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan reported Radio Pakistan.

According to a spokesperson of the NDMA, the consignment includes surgical masks, N-95 masks, protective gowns, gloves, shoe covers, surgical head covers, face shields, protective goggles, and sanitizers.

Health ministry officials have said that 65 per cent of those infected with the virus were below the age of 50 in Pakistan.

“A large portion of those infected with the virus are men,” the health ministry officials said, adding that 80 per cent of the dead were above the age of 80.
