ISLAMABAD: An Accountability Court in Islamabad on Friday postponed hearing in the Rs 82 billion mega corruption case of former Chairman of Ogra, Tauqir Sadiq and Aqeel Karim Dhidhi without taking the case till March 13.
Accountability Court judge, Muhammad Bashir heard the case of Tauqir Sadiq and co-accused in the case Aqeel Karim Dhidhi.
Accused Tauqir Sadiq appeared in the court. During the hearing, the documents from NAB regarding the case could not be produced in the court. The court summoned two senior officers of the NAB, Ahsan-ul-Haq Alvi and Tayyaba Ahsan as witnesses in the next hearing on March 13.
All the accused of the case including Tauqir Sadiq are on bail in the case. Former Chairman of Ogra, Tauqir Sadiq has recorded his statement. The Accountability Court had issued arrest warrants of the co-accused in the case, Aqeel Karim Dhidhi as his counsel had not appeared in the court on February 22. However, the counsel appeared in the next hearing and the arrest warrants were cancelled.
It is to be mentioned that NAB had filed a reference against former Chairman of Ogra, Tauqir Sadiq and others in 2013. Tauqir Sadiq is the prime accused in the Rs.82 billion scam of issuing new CNG licences, increasing gas tariff and allowing relocation of the functional stations.
The former chairman of Ogra had been absconder and was abroad since 2011, however, a NAB team had arrested him from UAE in 2013.
