The resolution was introduced by Shaista Pervez Malik and expresses the House’s concern regarding the US resolution. It emphasizes that the American resolution lacks factual accuracy and asserts Pakistan’s status as a sovereign nation that does not tolerate external interference in its internal affairs.

Additionally, the Pakistani resolution calls upon the US and the international community to address the humanitarian situations in Gaza and Occupied Kashmir.

It further underscores the House’s commitment to fostering bilateral relations with the US on a basis of equality.

The House acknowledges the US House of Representatives’ resolution “Expressing Support for Democracy in Pakistan,” passed on June 25, 2024. Pakistan reaffirms its dedication to democratic principles and fundamental human rights as enshrined in the 1973 Constitution.

The resolution reiterates Pakistan’s efforts to uphold these principles and stresses its commitment to building a robust and stable democratic society.

It criticizes the US resolution for its incomplete understanding of Pakistan’s political and electoral processes, particularly regarding the general elections held on February 8, 2024, which saw widespread participation.

Pakistan asserts its stance against any external interference and seeks a strong bilateral relationship with the United States based on mutual respect and cooperation.

The resolution expresses hope that the US Congress will play a more constructive role in enhancing Pakistan-US relations in the future.
