Pakistan Air Force successfully tests indigenous Taimoor weapon system

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Air Force (PAF)  has conducted the flight test of the indigenously developed Taimoor Weapon System, the military’s media affairs wing said on Saturday.

In a press release, said the Inter Service Pubic Relation (ISPR) that Taimoor Air-Launched Cruise Missile is capable of engaging enemy land and sea targets with high precision at a range of 600 kilometres, carrying a conventional warhead,

“Equipped with a state-of-the-art navigation and guidance system, Taimoor is designed to fly at very low altitudes, enabling it to effectively evade hostile air and missile defence systems. The flight test showcased the progress made in the country’s aerospace research and development.” The press said.

Senior officers of the armed forces, along with the scientists and engineers who were instrumental in developing the missile, were present to witness the test.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of Air Staff, praised the entire team for their dedication, expertise and commitment.

“This achievement is a testament to the hard work and professionalism of our people,” he said, adding that such milestones strengthen Pakistan’s defence capabilities and reinforce its role as a reliable regional security partner.

The Air Chief reaffirmed that such accomplishments are a testament to the nation’s resolve to achieve technological self-sufficiency and maintain a credible conventional deterrent in the evolving regional security environment.

The successful test of the Taimoor weapon system reflects Pakistan Air Force’s continued pursuit of operational readiness, technological superiority and national security objectives, the press release added.

Prime Minister (PM) Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday congratulated the nation on the successful test of the locally developed Taimur Weapon System conducted by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF).

The PM lauded the PFA for achieving the important milestone and termed the successful flight test a major step towards further strengthening the country’s defence capabilities.

He paid rich tribute to the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu and the scientists and engineers who played a key role in the development of the missile system.

Commending the PAF’s professional competence, dedication and unwavering commitment, the PM Shehbaz Sharif said that the successful test reflects the force’s high level of operational readiness and technological superiority.

The PM noted that the Taimur Weapon System would further enhance Pakistan’s defence and deterrence capabilities.

He added that the successful flight test was a clear manifestation of the technical maturity, innovation and self-reliance of Pakistan’s defence industry.
