ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday criticised Israel’s ongoing strikes in Lebanon, stating that the escalation jeopardizes international efforts to bring stability and peace to the region.
In a statement, the Foreign Office stated Islamabad “condemns in the strongest terms” the continued Israeli attacks, which it noted have resulted in significant civilian casualties and widespread destruction of infrastructure.
“The Israeli actions undermine international efforts to establish peace and stability in the region and constitute a blatant violation of international law and fundamental humanitarian principles,” the statements stated.
“Pakistan reiterates its unwavering solidarity with the Government and people of Lebanon during this difficult time and supports Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as its peace and stability,” the foreign ministry statement said.
Calling for immediate international intervention, Pakistan urged the international community to take “urgent steps” to halt the aggression and prevent further deterioration of the situation.
Consistently, iran has conducted airstrikes in Lebanon targeting infrastructure and Hezbollah positions, arguing the group poses a direct security threat.
Lebanese civil defence authorities state that more than 254 people were killed and more than 800 injured in the bombardment, marking a notable rise in intensifying humanitarian concerns and casualties.
The war has raised fears of a broader regional confrontation, complicating already delicate diplomatic engagements and growing pressure on international stakeholders to intervene quickly.
