Pakistan confirms 1,523 infections highest daily toll; 38 deaths, in last 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has confirms 1,523 COVID-19 infections, the highest daily toll round the country and 38 deaths during past 24 hours.

The nation-wide tally of coronavirus infections reached to 24,077 as 1,523 new cases were reported during last 24 hours country-wide. Death toll crossed the 564 mark with 38 new fatalities were confirmed during last 24 hours.

The figure regarding the recoveries of the Coronavirus patients reaced to 6,464 so far.

As per the figure given on Coronavirus Dashboard by the National Command and Operation Center in its province-wise break up at 09:30am on May 07, Thursday, was total 24,077 after new cases were confirmed. Punjab remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic, followed by Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Province-wise break up shows the figure of 9,077 of coronavirus cases were confirmed in Punjab province followed by 8,640 infections of coronavirus pandemic in Sindh. The infections confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 3,712, in Balochistan toll surged to figure of confirmed cases 1,663, 388 was figure in Gilgit-Baltistan, 521 in Islamabad Capital Territory and 76 in Azad Jammu Kashmir.

The figure given by Coronavirus Dashboard in its province-wise break up at 09:30am on May 07, Thursday, total deaths reported in the country were 564 after 38 more fatalities were reported round the country. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is on top of the fatalities list with 203 deaths while Punjab at number 2 with 175 deaths, Sindh stands with 157, Balochistan 22, Gilgit-Baltistan 3 and Islamabad Capital Territory 4.

The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) proposed multiple recommendations to ease lockdown restrictions in the country which were imposed to curb spread of the coronavirus.

The recommendations were made during Committee meeting chaired by Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Asad Umar in Islamabad.

The recommendations include opening of inter-provincial transportation with proper implementation of SOPs, opening phase-II of the construction sector, reopening of retail outlets and operationalization of selective outpatient departments in Islamabad.

The participants of meeting proposed to enhance shops timings from 9am to 5pm and then 8pm to 10pm.
