Pakistan issues 2200 visas to Sikh pilgrims

Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi has issued 2200 visas to Indian Sikh Pilgrims for the upcoming Baisakhi Festival.

In a tweet Tuesday, Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal said visas were issued in line with Pakistan’s efforts to promote interfaith harmony and people-to-people contacts between the two countries.

Earlier an important meeting of caretakers of all Gurdwaras was held here on Monday in connection with finalization of arrangements for the Besakhi festival.

Evacuee Trust Property board (ETPB) Secretary Muhammad Tariq Wazir presided over the meeting in which Deputy Secretary Shrines Imran Gondal and caretaker of all Gurdwaras and officers concerned participated.

The caretakers discussed the festival arrangements in detail and told the meeting that all measures regarding arrival, welcome of guests and their security had been taken.

The Board secretary directed caretakers to use all their energies for looking after the guests. He said the Board officials and other staff would remain with the Yatrees 24 hours a day.
