ISLAMABAD: Demise of King of social satire, comedy, puppetry, and communication Farooq Qaisar on Friday saddened the whole nation.
Iconic puppeteer became famous for his character as “Uncle Sargam”, suffered a heart attack. He was 75. He was known as “Uncle Sargam” in the popular PTV show Kaliyan. Uncle Sargam was a household name for Pakistani children of the 80s and 90s with his prominent puppet show Kaliyan at that time.

People from all walks of life have widely condoled his death through social media which shows his popularity and respect in the masses. Social media pages were full to tributes to the legend.
Prime Minister Imran Khan condoled over the demise of renowned artist and puppeteer. “He was not just a performer but would constantly raise awareness about social injustices and issues,” the premier said on Twitter in his condolence message.

Expressing sadness over Qaiser’s demise, the prime minister also conveyed his condolences and prayers for the bereaved family.
President Arif Alvi and other prominent personalities from all walks of life expressed grief over the demise of Qaisar.
In their condolence messages, they prayed Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude and equanimity.
Qaisar was a great writer, artist as well as cartoonist. He was king of social satire, comedy, puppetry, and communication and his services would be remembered along in the field of journalism and media.
Meanwhile, Director General Pakistan National council of the Arts Dr. Fozia Saeed said Qaisar was an iron man who fought all his life against the odds in society. He was the loved one of the Society who wrote and spoke to highlight evil characters and pointed out the weaknesses in our social life.
She said his unmatchable, remarkable, undeniable and universal characters have played a vital role in educating people. The unforgettable Farooq Qaisar remained alive through his writings and acting.
He has international recognition for his contribution to the art world. He joined PNCA’s national puppet theatre on the special request of doctor Fozia Saeed and remained associated with PNCA’s puppet team providing guidance in promoting puppetry art despite his deteriorating health and CORONA pandemic.
Recently the government awarded Nishan-E-Imtiaz on recommendation of PNCA.
