Pakistan reports 228 COVID-19 cases as positivity rate falls below 1pc

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reported two new deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus along with 228 more people were contracted by the virus.

According to the latest figures given by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) on its National Coronavirus Dashboard 228 people have been tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours while two more people lost their lives to deadly virus.

NCOC stated that during last 24 hours 228 people were tested positive to coronavirus by which the number of positive cases has surged to 1,522,419. As two more people died to COVID-19 the nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 30,333 on Tuesday morning.

As per NCOC details Pakistan has conducted 27,741 coronavirus tests in the last 24 hours out of which 228 people tested positive to the COVID-19 and the positivity ratio was recorded at 0.82 per cent.

The NCOC in its province-wise update of the Coronavrus Pandemc stated that Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

NCOC stated that overall toll of fatalities across Pakistan has been reached to 30,333 out of which 13,551 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 8,092 in Sindh, 6,307 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 1,022 in Islamabad, 792 in Azad Kashmir, 378 in Balochistan and 191 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

The overall number of positive cases reached to 1,522,419, out of which 573,850 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 504,507 in Punjab, 218,736 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 134,973 in Islamabad, 43,222 in Azad Kashmir, 35,459 in Balochistan and 11,672 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Pakistan has so far conducted 27,203,549 coronavirus tests and 27,741 in the last 24 hours. 1,476,796 patients have recovered in the country whereas 470 patients are in critical condition.

So far, 128,074,138 people have received their first dose of coronavirus vaccine including 131,491 in last 24 hours. 101,881,176 citizens have been fully vaccinated while 501,747 received their second dose in last 24 hours.

The number of total administered doses has reached to 219,368,557 with 678,788 in the last 24 hours.
