ISLAMABAD: Coronavirus pandemic contracted over 4,497 people in Pakistan on second consecutive day on Thursday as the toll of new cases remained over 4,000. Country-wide death toll during last 24 hours surged to 76 highest after June 9.
According to the latest figures appeared on the National Coronavirus Dashboard of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) Pakistan has reported 1,020,324 coronavirus positive cases so far while nationwide fatality tally jumped to 23,209 on Thursday.
Pakistan conducted 16 million Coronavirus tests so far while during last 24 hours 59,707 tests were conducted across the country out of which 4,497 people were tested positive and the positivity rate remained 7.5 per cent. Out of 59,761 active coronavirus cases about 3,084 people are in critical condition. 1,612 patients have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of recoveries to 937,354.
Besides the infections toll crossed 4,000 mark for second consecutive day, it was for the first time after June 9 that Pakistan recorded 76 new deaths.
As far the province-wise figure given by the NCOC, Punjab remained the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The overall death toll reported in Pakistan was 23,209 out of which 10,995 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 5,903 in Sindh, 4,435 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 797 in Islamabad, 620 in Azad Kashmir, 326 in Balochistan, and 133 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Nation-wide death toll so far reported was 1,020,324 COVID-19 infections of which 374,434 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 354,904 in Punjab, 142,799 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 86,602 in Islamabad, 30,019 in Balochistan, 23,631 in Azad Kashmir and 7,935 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Pakistan has so far conducted 15,878,471 coronavirus tests and 59,707 in the last 24 hours. 937,354 patients have recovered in the country whereas 3,084 patients are in critical condition.
