Pakistan sees another worst day with 97 deaths; 4,734 infections in last 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan witnessed another worst day with 97 coronavirus deaths during last 24 hours, besides 4,734 confirmed infections.

With 97 more deaths confirmed in last 24 hours the overall death toll jumped to 1,935 and with 4,734 new infections the overall infections tally crossed 93,983 cases.

The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), has confirmed 93,983 coronavirus infections in the country as it reported 1,935 deaths due to COVID-19.

According to province break-up given on National Dashboard of NCOC Punjab surpassed Sindh as worst-hit province by the coronavirus pandemic with 35,308 confirmed cases the highest number along with 659 fatalities, followed by Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Pakistan has so far conducted 660,508 coronavirus tests and 22,185 in last 24 hours. 32,581 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas many are in critical condition. Coronavirus epidemic patients are under treatment at quarantine centers of 462 hospitals where 7,295 beds are available.

According to latest figure displayed on National Coronavirus Dashboard of NCOC on June 06, Saturday 9:30am, the province-wise break up after confirming the toll of 93,529 infections show that Punjab surpassed Sindh as the toll of the province jumped to 35,308 coronavirus cases followed by Sindh with.34,889 infections of the COVID-19 pandemic. The infections confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have crossed 12,459 confirmed infections, in Balochistan toll surged to 5,776, Gilgit-Baltistan reached to the toll of 852 infections, Islamabad Capital Territory reached to 3,946 and 299 infection reported in Azad Jammu Kashmir.

The figure given by Coronavirus Dashboard in its province-wise break up regarding the total 1,935 deaths reported in the country. Punjab at top of the list of confirmed deaths with 659 as Sindh remains at number 2 with 615 deaths. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa death toll surged to 541 and the province has shown a little decline in fatalities. Balochistan 54 Gilgit-Baltisan 12, Islamabad Capital Territory 41 and AJK 7.

More than 6.52 million people have been reported infected with the novel coronavirus globally and over 385,000 have died, according to a Reuters tally.
