ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has categorically rejected remarks made by India’s Ministry of External Affairs regarding elections in Gilgit Baltistan (GB).
Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson office responded to the unwarranted Indian statement saying that “India has no locus standi on the issue — legal, moral or historical”.
Spokesperson explained that propagation of false and fabricated claims by India can neither change the facts nor divert attention from India’s illegal actions and worst human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK).
He said that IIOJK is in illegal and inhuman occupation of India from 72 years. However, despite brutalization of the Kashmiri people at the hands of Indian occupation forces, the indigenous Kashmiri resistance movement has only become stronger.
Few days ago, India’s Ministry of External Affairs in a statement criticized the Pakistan’s government move of Gilgit Baltistan Elections and Care Taker Amendment Act 2020. India also claimed that GB territory belongs to India like Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh due to their accession in 1947.
Pakistan has once again called upon India to immediately end its forcible occupation of Jammu & Kashmir and comply with the UNSC resolutions which allow the Kashmiris to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination through a free and impartial plebiscite.
