Pakistan witnesses biggest one-day spike with 2,255 new cases; Death toll surges to 737

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan witnessed highest toll of coronavirus infections with 2,255 in a single day as government has opened more businesses since ordering relaxation in lockdown; while over all toll jumped to 34,370 round the country.

Death toll reached to 737 all over Pakistan after 31 new fatalities were confirmed during last 24 hours. The figures of people recovered so far reached to 8,812, as patients are under treatment in 462 hospitals.

As per the latest figure given on National Coronavirus Dashboard of National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) on Wednesday 9:30am, 2,255 persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 during last 24 hours, as during the time Pakistan 11,848 tests while overall figures of tests conducted country-wide was 317,699.

As per confirmed figure given on Coronavirus Dashboard of NCOC, the province-wise break up 34,370 after new cases were confirmed. Punjab remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic, followed by Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Province-wise break up shows the figure that Punjab crossed the 13,259 toll of coronavirus cases followed by 12,610 infections of coronavirus pandemic in Sindh. The infections confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have reached to 5,021, in Balochistan toll surged to figure of confirmed cases 2,158, 457 was figure in Gilgit-Baltistan, 759 in Islamabad Capital Territory and 88 in Azad Jammu Kashmir.

The figure given by Coronavirus Dashboard in its province-wise break up regarding the total deaths reported in the country was 737 after 31 more fatalities were reported round the country. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is on top of the fatalities list with 267 deaths while Sindh at number 2 with 218 deaths, Punjab stands with 214, Balochistan 27, Gilgit-Baltisan 4, Islamabad Capital Territory 6 and AJK 1.

Officials have recorded more than 4.2 million cases and more than 287,000 deaths since the virus emerged in China in December.
