ISLAMABAD: Pakistan witnessed highest ever death toll of 111 fatalities round the country in 24 hours with 4,443 new infections were reported.
COVID-19 has started claiming the tally as authorities at the helm of affairs have miserably failed to take positive measures to stop the spread of the virus.
With 111 new deaths reported in the country during last 24 hours the death tally has surged to 2,839 and with the new 4,443 new coronavirus infections reported in last 24 hours the toll of infections jumped to 148,921.
The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), has confirmed 148.921 coronavirus infections in the country as well as it reported 2,839 deaths due to COVID-19. Punjab and Sindh have crossed the 50,000 mark of coronavirus infections. Toll of infections in Punjab surged 55,878 and Sindh 55,581 infections, which rang alarm for the policy planners of the country.
According to province-wise break-up given on National Coronavirus Dashboard of the NCOC Punjab is at top of the list as worst-hit province by the coronavirus pandemic with 55,878 confirmed cases the highest number along with 1,081 fatalities, followed by Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Pakistan has so far conducted 922,665 coronavirus tests and 25,015 in last 24 hours. 56,390 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas many are in critical condition. Coronavirus epidemic patients are under treatment at quarantine centers of 462 hospitals where 7,295 beds are available.
According to latest figure displayed on National Coronavirus Dashboard of NCOC on June 16, Tuesday 09:20am, the province-wise break up after confirming the toll of 148,921 infections show that Punjab is at top of the infections list with 55,878 coronavirus cases followed by Sindh with.55,581 infections of the COVID-19 pandemic. The infections confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have crossed 18,472 confirmed infections, in Balochistan toll surged to 8,327, Gilgit-Baltistan reached to the toll of 1,143 infections, Islamabad Capital Territory reached to 8,857 and 663 infection reported in Azad Jammu Kashmir.
The figure given by Coronavirus Dashboard in its province-wise break up regarding the total 2,839 deaths reported in the country. Punjab is at top of the list of confirmed deaths with 1,081 as Sindh with 853 deaths at number two. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa death toll surged to 707 and the province has shown a little decline in fatalities. Balochistan 85 Gilgit-Baltistan 17, Islamabad Capital Territory 78 and AJK 17.
