Pakistan’s desire for peace should not be considered weakness: CJCSC

RISALPUR: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Zubair Mahmood Hayat on Thursday said that Pakistan’s desire for peace should not be considered a weakness.

Addressing the passing out parade of PAF cadets at Asghar Khan Academy in Risalpur, he said that Pakistan’s armed forces are fully capable to respond to any kind of threat or aggression.

“Pakistan is a peace loving country and we want to establish good relations with all country especially our neighbours; however, this desire must not be construed wrongly”, he said.

General Zubair added that this country has rendered great human and material sacrifices for lasting peace in the region.

The CJCSC said that Pakistan’s strategic and nuclear programme is fundamental part of our national security construct.

“We will continue to maintain strategic balance in South Asia at all costs without indulging in the arms race”, he added.

General Zubair also appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) for shooting down two aircraft of the enemy.

CJCSC made it clear that peace in South Asia is associated with the settlement of Kashmir dispute adding that Pakistan rejects the forceful annexation of occupied Kashmir by India. (With additional input from INP)
