Some members of Indian delegation avoided handshake with Pakistani delegation at the International Court of Justice.
On first day of hearing into Yadhav case on Monday, Pakistani delegation approached Indian legal team before the start of proceeding in a goodwill gesture.
Pakistani delegation including attorney general, spokesman of foreign office and Pakistan’s counsel for Jadhav extended their hands for a handshake.
Indian side playing tactfully gesticulated with their traditional ‘namasty’ raising their hands, instead of hand shake.
It was nothing more that symbolic, had the Indian side responded back with same approach.
Imran Khan, the incumbent Prime Minister of Pakistan, immediately after assuming office, had publicly stated that he was ready take two steps forward to normalise relations between the two countries, if India moves one step.
Instead of accepting Pakistani Prime Minister’s offer, India intensified anti-Pakistan rhetoric. Relationship between the two neighboring countries once again stand at lowest ebb today.
Small steps with positive mind set can make difference in bringing peace in the region.
