COLOMBO: A delegation of National Defence University Pakistan, led by Air Commodore Mustafa Anwer, is currently in Sri Lanka on a 6-day visit. It was called on High Commissioner of Pakistan, Maj. Gen. (R) Dr. Shahid Ahmad Hashmat at the High Commission premises.
The 17-member delegation comprises senior officers from armed forces of Pakistan and allied officers from Iran, Bangladesh and Nepal, who are undergoing National Security and War Course at the NDU.
While elaborating Pak-Lanka relations, Maj. Gen. (R) Dr. Shahid Ahmad Hashmat underscored that relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka are based on mutual trust and commonality of interest in maintaining peace, security and stability in the South Asian region.
The High Commissioner said that Pakistan and Sri Lanka have shared common perceptions on almost all regional and international issues and are working together on all these foras for shared values and interests.
During their visit, the delegates will be meeting with a number of prominent personalities from Sri Lankan Armed Forces and civil Institutions including Secretary Defence, Chief of Defense Staff, Commanders of Sri Lankan Army, Air Force and Navy.
The delegation will also visit the Lakshman Kadirgamer Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies (LKI) and Institute of National Security Studies Sri Lanka (INSSSL) for interactive session. (INP)
