ISLAMABAD: PBC (Pakistan Bar Council) has announced a day long strike of legal fraternity to condemn the belated efforts and maneuvering by Federal Government in General Qamar Javed Bajwa’s extension and rescuing former military dictator Pervez Musharraf from punishment of high treason case.
Bar Council leaders Syed Amjid Shah Vice Chairman and Sher Muhammad Khan Chairman Executive Committee in a statement called upon legal fraternity to observe a day long strike hold protest demonstrations at their respective bar councils.
PBC leaders condemn the efforts of the Federal Government to maneuver Tuesday’s order of the Supreme Court for rectification of their mistakes and to bring about amendments in some relevant laws in attempt to over-come their inefficiency in the matter of granting extension in service of the incumbent Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
They have also disapproved and condemned the unjustified and unprecedented move in violation of the constitutional provision and earlier decisions of the federal government, to approach the Islamabad Hugh Court seeking directions to the Special Court seized with a matter of high treason case against general Musharraf for not announcing its verdict.
When the lawyers all over country hold protest and condemnation meetings in their respective bar rooms against unconstitutional moves of the federal government for giving extension to COAS and rescuing Pervez Musharraf from punishment of commenting high treason. By Our Correspondent
