PCMEA for govt support to overcome crisis due to coronavirus pandemic

LAHORE: Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMEA) Senior Vice Chairman Riaz Ahmed Monday said if the government would announce to help the carpet industry, it is possible that negative impact would be reduced at minimum level.
Addressing to the weekly meeting of association, Riaz Ahmed said there is a formula that the government need to formulate for its permanent policy to participate in international exhibitions that if they participate in international exhibitions, the government would bear 80 per cent of total expenditures while [providing other necessary facilities and the carpet manufacturers would bear the remaining 20 per cent expenditures.
On this occasion, Carpet Training Institute Chairperson Pervez Hanif, central leader Abdul Latif Malik, Saeed Khan, Major (R) Akhter Nazir, Ijazur Rehman, Malik Akbar, Daniyal Hanif, Faisal Saeed Khan and others were also present.
The participants discussed in details the overall impact of coronavirus pandemic on carpet industry and put forward many proposals to come out of this crisis.
Riaz Ahmed said the government should chalk out policies on exigent basis about the access of markets in those countries which are still being ignored. He suggested the government to direct the officials concerned in Pakistani embassies to make a directory of those who are dealt in carpet business so that Pakistani exporters could contact them easily for selling their products.
He further said these foreign businessmen should be invited in the embassies so that marketing of Pakistan products would be done. He said after this, Pakistani manufacturers would be informed about the results of these meetings so that they could be updated about the tendencies of different products besides knowing about the trend in markets.
Riaz Ahmed also suggested that the government should take measures to ensure that foreign and local delegations would frequently meet and exchange their business ideas besides making arrangements for participation in international exhibitions.
