QUETTA: Preparations of the third anti-government rally of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) have been finalized in full swing. The rally will be held Sunday (today) in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan.
PDM is ready for its third power show after successful rallies in Gujranwala and Karachi. President PDM Maulana Fazlur Rehman, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, ANP leader Asfand Yar Wali, Mahmood Khan Achakzai and other leaders will address the rally while PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is likely to address the rally via video link.
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Balochistan regarding the security of the PDM rally, in which it was decided to impose Section-144 in the city as well as ban pillion riding on motorcycles for the day.
President PDM Maulana Fazlur Rehman and PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz have reached the provincial capital while Bilawal Bhutto will not be able to attend the rally as he is engaged in election activities in Gilgit Baltistan.
Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman has said that the Quetta rally will be held in any case. He said that there is no threat regarding PDM rally in Quetta, and even if there is, we will still hold the rally. The absence of any leader will not affect the PDM alliance, we have no personal agenda, the government has been showing incompetence for 2 years, he added.
