PESHAWAR: Javed Afridi, owner of PSL franchise Peshawar Zalmi has decided to register a silent protest and will not attend the HBL PSL 8 Draft, scheduled in Karachi today.
The protest is in view of the latest statements given by PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja and CEO Faisal Hasnain regarding cricket activities in Peshawar.
Foreign cricketers instructed to be careful while traveling to KP, Balochistan.
Last week, the duo indicated that foreign teams and players are prohibited from travelling to Peshawar for PSL and international matches.
According to Zalmi sources, this has put a dent in their efforts to revive cricket in Peshawar. The statements have sent a negative impact about the city.
The Arbab Niaz Stadium is currently under construction intending to host high-profile cricket matches shortly while Hayatabad Cricket Stadium is also under construction. It was handed to PCB last week.
Almost two billion rupees each have been spent on building these state-of-the-art stadiums.
PCB officials tried to convince Javed but he is firm in his stance.
Meanwhile, Zalmi has opted not to answer on this development.
Other Zalmi officials including Director Mohammad Akram will attend the draft.
