PM Shehbaz Sharif departs for Austria to strengthen cooperation between two countries

LAHORE: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif departed for Vienna, Austria, on Sunday for a two-day official visit following an invitation from Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker.

According to APP, the Prime Minister will hold bilateral as well as delegation-level talks with Chancellor Stocker at the Federal Chancellery. They expected to discuss matters of mutual interest and avenues for strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

The Prime Minister and the Austrian Chancellor will also jointly co-chair a meeting of leading business figures aimed at enhancing trade and investment ties between Pakistan and Austria.

Subsequently, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will address the Austria Business Forum, where he is expected to highlight Pakistan’s economic potential and investment opportunities.

He will also attend and speak at a special event in Vienna organised under the United Nations on the theme “Sustainable Development: The Path to Global Peace and Prosperity.”

Moreover, he is scheduled to meet with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to discuss issues related to peaceful uses of nuclear energy and international cooperation.

Officials said the Prime Minister’s official visit to Austria is expected to open new avenues of collaboration and add fresh momentum to bilateral relations between the two countries.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi were accompanying the Prime Minister as part of the Pakistani delegation.
