LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has finalized the names of Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman and Malik Zaheer Iqbal for the slot of Punjab Assembly Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively.
Mian Mujtaba won the election for Punjab Assembly constituency PP-148, Lahore-IV by securing 37,998 votes.
Moreover, the name of Malik Zaheer Iqbal Channer has been shortlisted for the deputy speaker post.
The decision, according to the sources, taken during the parliamentary party meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)
The meeting, headed by incoming Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, is currently underway at Jati Umrah in Lahore, sources added.
A total of 218 members are attending the session, comprising party members, independents and candidates nominated for special seats.
During the meeting, the Punjab Assembly’s non-elected members are also present.
