MANDI BAHAUDDIN: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief, Senator Siraj ul Haq has said that the prime minister’s statement about putting corrupts in jails reflects his helplessness in running the affairs of the government.

Addressing a political convention in Phalia (Mandi Bahauddin) on Wednesday, Sirajul Haq questioned, “Who stopped him [Imran Khan] taking action against the corrupt mafia?”

A large number of local representatives of different political parties joined the Jamaat-e-Islami on occasion. JI Naib Emir Mian Aslam, JI Northern Punjab chapter head Dr Tariq Saleem, JI Youth President Zubair Gondaal and JI local leader Riaz Farooq Sahi also addressed the gathering.

Siraj criticized the prime minister for declaring the Pakistani society corrupt and dishonest in foreign countries, saying Imran Khan’s corruption rhetoric during every foreign visit was tantamount to disgracing the nation and selling its honour. PM Khan, he added, should keep in mind that he appeared as representative of the entire Pakistani whenever he went abroad.

The JI chief said the government instead of creating employment opportunities for people was turning the country into a ‘langar khana.’ He said it was responsibility of the government to provide jobs but here the things were going reverse as the rulers intended to turn the nation as beggar.

He said the prices of medicines and food items went 200 times high and the economy was bad to worst with every day passing. The situation, he said, was reached at a level that all regional countries surpassed Pakistan in every sector.

Senator Siraj expressed concern over situation of human rights in Indian Occupied Kashmir where curfew entered the 66th day. He said the Pakistani government failed to take bold steps for Kashmir cause which resulted in increasing the humanitarian crisis in the held valley.

He said the government should avoid creating the issue of religious seminaries. He said the rulers were expected to improve the situation of economy, industry, agriculture, hospitals and courts instead of indulging into non-issues. (With additional input from INP)
