Prerogative of weapons use rests with state alone: Army chief

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that Pakistan is on a positive trajectory of becoming a state where the prerogative of the use of weapons rests with the state alone.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Army Chief stated this while addressing the 220th Corps Commanders’ Conference at the General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

COAS General Bajwa said that Pakistan has achieved stability against terrorism and socio-economic development is taking preeminence in the country.

The ISPR said that the forum expressed its resolve to support the government and all stakeholders in the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP).

The meeting reviewed geo-strategic environment and the ongoing situation along the eastern border and expressed strong will, resolve and determination to defend the motherland against any misadventure of aggression.

The forum also reiterated resolve to continue its efforts for bringing enduring peace in the country while supporting all initiatives towards regional peace, the statement added.
