Sirajul Haq urged the federal government, the Sindh government and the civic governments not to push the port city towards darkness and instead endeavour to make it a city of lights once again through joint efforts.

The JI chief paid tributes to the people Karachi for raising their voice for the rights of the Kashmiris and the Palestinians and for the solution of these issues.

JI Sindh chief Muhammad Husain Mahnati, JI Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman and JI Information Secretary Qaisar Sharif, were present on the occasion.

Sirajul Haq said that Karachi was mini Pakistan and was nourishing people from all the provinces like a loving mother. He said that the problems of the civic nature could not be solved without the provision of funds and powers to the civic bodies.

He said that in order to carry the benefits of the democratic system to the common man at grass root level, it was necessary to transfer powers at the lowest level and the civic governments should be given all the powers given in the constitution.

Sirajul Haq said in order to ensure the supremacy of the constitution and the rule of law, it was necessary that all the decisions were taken on merit and no government personality or official was able to take undue advantage of his powers. He said the rampant corruption all around in the society and plunder of the public money must be stopped through strict enforcement of merit.
