LAHORE : Punjab Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs (HR&MA) Ijaz Alam Augustine has said that it is our moral duty to perform proactive role to promote culture of peace and tolerance in the society and it is also need of time to organize dialogues to educate our society.
He was speaking at dialogue session on Interfaith Harmony organized by Human Rights Department in collaboration of SPO here on Saturday.
Secretary HR Tariq Mahmood delivered welcome speech and highlighted the services of Department to promote peace in the society. He also highlighted the importance of creating ways and means for peaceful society with inter-faith harmony and peaceful coexistence and assured to organize more meetings of interfaith harmony.
Ijaz Alam said that as representative of Punjab Government, we are taking all compulsory steps to promote culture of tolerance.
MPA Mahindra Pal Singh said that we are all Pakistani citizens and have same rights. He also criticized and condemned role of Modi in Kashmir.
All the speakers highlighted the importance of promoting the culture of peace and tolerance between all religions. They also urged the promotion of acceptance, coexistence, reconciliation and progressive dialogue in order to counter extremism. Parliamentary Secretary for Human Rights Sardar Mahendra Pal Singh and various religious scholars from different schools of thought and eminent personalities of civil society also attended the seminar.
