KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed candidate Ejaz Swati joined the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Wednesday.
Expressing his thoughts on the occasion, Swati said: “I am joining the PPP unconditionally.”
Separately, the PPP on Tuesday decided to field Asif Ali Zardari for the role of president.
Sources divulged the Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting was briefed that the party had reached a deal with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). The PPP was looking to secure the posts of senate chairman, and provincial governors.
During the CEC meeting, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari burst into tears, while mentioning the attacks on PPP workers and candidates.
Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said: “Our workers were tortured, and the PPP’s mandate had been snatched.”
