ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership has been caught by surprise as Imran Khan’s gives call for civil disobedience as most of them believe it impracticable and not doable.
The PTI leaders in their internal WhatsApp group discussions, are expressing their reservations to the civil disobedience call given by their party supremo, a news report revealed.
For them, such a call is neither practical nor timely, the PTI leaders were quoted as saying this in their group. They are discussing to take up the issue with Imran and get it reversed, the report stated.
The PTI leaders claim that even the top party leaders like PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, and Asad Qaiser learnt about the civil disobedience call from Imran’s post on “X”.
“This is not doable,” a party source said, adding that neither overseas Pakistanis will stop sending money to their families in Pakistan nor anyone will stop paying electricity and gas bills.
Even the PTI leaders can’t do it, as for parliamentarians participating in such a civil disobedience means their disqualification.
One of the PTI leaders said that whoever is advising Imran on these lines is doing disservice to both the party and the founder chairman.
The last protest call of November 24 was also given by Imran without consulting his party leadership.
Several senior leaders of the PTI were unhappy with the November 24 protest call and wanted to meet Imran to review his decision but it couldn’t happen as the leaders were not allowed by the authorities to meet their jailed leader.
When approached, senior PTI leader Ali Muhammad Khan said that the party leadership will meet Imran to get further instructions on what the founder chairman has announced. Ali added that meanwhile the committee constituted by Imran will start its work.
