ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) once again failed to submit sources and details of funds received that were ordered in the last meeting and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) adjourned hearing till August 6 without any progress.
The ECP is hearing the petition regarding the PTI foreign funding, filed by former PTI Secretary General Akbas S Baber.
The ECP officials said that Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) once again failed to submit sources and details of funds received that were ordered in the last meeting. And, instead of submitting bank statements of PTI foreign bank accounts held in US, Britain, Canada and elsewhere, PTI demanded that audit should be limited to year 2012 excluding audit of accounts of yer 2013, they added.
Whereas, the TOR of Committee mandates it to audit of PTI foreign funding for five years from 2009 to 2013, the officials said.
The Committee once again requested PTI to submit source and details of funds demanded by ECP since April 1, 2015 and successive orders which PTI continues to defy., they revealed.
Talking to the media, the petitioner of the foreign funding case and PTI founding member Akbar S Babar stated that almost six years and PTI continues to defy successive ECP orders and that of the Scrutiny Committee to produce foreign bank statements and source and details of accounts.
Babar said when it comes to others including SAPMs the PM takes credit for disclosing their assets and wealth.
But when the finger is pointed at him, he refuses to divulge details of 23 PTI banks accounts operated by top PTI leadership including him. He said time is running out on him. He said to-date, PTI has not submitted a single bank statement of several bank accounts illegally operated abroad.
Babar concluded by saying that it is a huge tragedy that a ruling party and a sitting PM is allowed to toy with laws by refusing to comply with successive ECP orders with impunity.
