LAHORE: Aliya Hamza Malik, chief organiser of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab, was arrested in Lahore on Thursday and moved to an undisclosed location, according to police sources.
As per the law enforcement officials, Aliya Hamza Malik was taken into custody in Lahore, but authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding her current location or custody arrangements.
The PTI leader has previously been sentenced to 10 years in prison across various cases related to the May 9 incidents, which have remained a major point of political contention in Pakistan.
Aliya Hamza Malik, a prominent figure in PTI Punjab, was convicted for her involvement in the events of May 9, 2023.
According to reports her convictions have been part of a series of legal actions taken against several PTI leaders over charges linked to political unrest during that period.
