LAHORE: The Punjab government on Monday rejected Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) request to shift Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz – who has contracted coronavirus – to the Ittefaq Hospital.
PML-N deputy secretary Ata Tarar had written a letter to the Punjab chief secretary and requested to move Hamza Shahbaz to the Ittefaq Hospital from the Kot Lakhpat Jail on health grounds.
PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb had on Sunday confirmed that Hamza Shehbaz Sharif tested positive for novel coronavirus.
Marriyum Aurangzeb revealed that Hamza is suffering from high fever from last three days and asked authorities to shift him to hospital.
Shehbaz Sharif, in a tweet, also said, “My son has contracted coronavirus in jail
Government should fulfill its responsibility of providing health facilities as any negligence can endanger his heath, she added.
