NEW DELHI: The Indian opposition leaders and senior Congress, Rahul Gandhi has condemned the rape and murder of a junior doctor in Kolkata and demanded severe punishment for the criminals involved in this heinous incident.
Rahul Gandhi in a statement on social media platform ‘X’ said that the whole country is shocked by this heinous crime of rape and murder of a junior doctor.
He said that this incident shows that doctors in India, especially women are not safe. Inspite of providing justice to the victim doctor, the attempt to save the criminal involved in this heinous incident has raised serious questions on the hospital and the local administration, he revealed.
Rahul Gandhi said that this incident made us think that when doctors are not safe even in medical colleges in India, on whom will parents trust to send their daughters abroad to study.
He questioned whether the strict laws made after the rape of a student Nirbhaya in New Delhi are also applicable in India. Why are they failing to stop the incidents of rape of women?
