Former chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani has said that 11th National Financial Commission (NFC) Award, meant to replace the seventh award finalized more than 15 years ago, has once again been delayed.
In a statement, he said that the second meeting of the Commission was planned for January, 2026, but has not materialized.
He stated that the eight technical working groups constituted to give recommendations on issues related to the vertical and horizontal division of federal taxes remain dormant. So far, only two of the technical groups have met, once each.
He said the Constitution, 1973, requires to finalize a new Award ever five years, the last Award was given in 2010. The Constitution, 1973, on this account has been and continues to be violated.
