RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Saturday sealed site offices of four illegal housing schemes located around new Islamabad International Airport.
As part of its ongoing campaign against illegal housing societies, Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering Directorate (MP&TE) sealed site offices Al-Mustafa residencia, New airport Town, Gulshane Hussain and She Afzal, the media office of the civic body said in a press release.
“MP&TE Directorate sealed site offices of four illegal housing schemes namely Al-Mustafa Residencia, New Airport Town, Gulshane Hussain and She Afzal Subdivision near Islamabad International Airport. Director Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) RDA said under section Punjab Private Housing schemes and Land Subdivision Rules 2010 notices have been issued to the owner of the above mentioned four illegal housing schemes”, RDA press release added.
RDA has started drive against mushroom growth of illegal housing societies around the city. Dozens of housing societies are operating near new Islamabad International Airport-many of them are said to be illegal.
Common citizens have invested billions of rupees in these societies; many people have spent their entire savings to get a plot in these societies in the hope to build a home of their own.
There has been a long standing demand of the general public that civic bodies of the twin cities-RDA and CDA should make strict rules to check illegal housing projects and save the general public from investing money in such societies.
RDA said it has issued notices to the owners of the housing societies whose office it has sealed. The notices have been served under section Punjab Private Housing schemes and Land Subdivision Rules 2010.
MP&TE Directorate RDA’s Staff including Deputy Director Planning, Superintendent Scheme, Scheme Inspector and others with the assistance of the police from relevant police station carried out operation.
RDA said the owners of these properties were running illegal housing schemes site offices in violation of Punjab Private Housing schemes and Land Subdivision Rules 2010.

On Thursday RDA had sealed site offices of four illegal housing schemes namely OGDC Cooperative Society, Baroha Farm Houses, Atomic Energy Employees Cooperative Society and Sanam Garden Housing Scheme in Tehsil Murree Rawalpindi.
RDA advised the general public that they should not make any investment in any illegal /unauthorized Housing Scheme which status declared illegal by RDA.
