ISLAMABAD: Foreign Ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) would finalise agenda for the upcoming meeting of heads of states of member countries in a two- day meeting being held in Moscow.
The Council of Foreign Ministers is considering more than 20 documents for adoption in the virtual conference to be hosted by New Delhi on November 30.
Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi is representing Pakistan in the meeting that started on Wednesday, the foreign office said.
The Council of Foreign Ministers is the highest forum of SCO after the Council of Heads of State (CHS) and the Council of Heads of Government (CHG). It deliberates on important regional and international issues and considers documents for approval and adoption by the Council of Heads of State.
SCO’s major objectives are to promote mutual confidence and good economic, cultural, political, neighborly relations among member states. Besides Pakistan, SCO’s current membership comprises China, Russia, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
The summit of heads of states is also expected to adopt a Joint Communiqué reflecting member states’ unified stance on important regional and international issues.
The Foreign Minister Qureshi will also have bilateral meetings on the sidelines of his forum.
